Lorraine Boucher and Anne Marie Corrieri from the Technology Department attended both the Elementary Student Council and PTO meetings which were held at Veterans Park School. At the Student Council meeting Lorraine presented information about the ISTE Standards and Digital Literacy using the SMARTBoard located in the library. Members of the council became intrigued with the interactivity of the SMARTBoard and requested a demonstration. Megan Sweet, a 4th grade teacher at Veterans Park School was in attendance and since she utilizes a SMARTBoard in her classroom on a daily basis she gladly shared some of her lessons.

Following the Student Council Meeting Lorraine and Anne Marie attended the PTO Meeting. Parents and teachers in attendance had the opportunity to ask Lorraine questions ranging from the Parent Portal, the use of IXL Math, the inequity of available technology in classrooms, Bring Your Own Device, SMARTBoards, etc.

On Saturday March 10th three Vets Park teachers (Mrs. Sweet, Mrs Belson & Ms. Jurkowski), two LPS Principals (Mrs. Knowles & Mrs. Nemeth) and three Technology Department staff (Mrs. Boucher, Mr. Jorge & Mrs. Corrieri) attended the first New England 1:1 Summit at Burlington High School. It offered the opportunity for attendees to learn about teaching in one-to-one computing environments and what a 1:1 environment looks like from those who have started to make it a reality.

The netbooks arrived to both Mrs. Sweet's 4th grade classroom and Mrs. Belson's 5th grade classroom! Both of these classrooms are the first to offer students the opportunity for 1:1 computing throughout the school day. The video below was created using Animoto.
